Κάνοντας διακοπές στα ελληνικά νησιά, ο διάσημος Βέλγος ντετέκτιβ Ηρακλής Πουαρό εντόπισε μια όμορφη γυναίκα στην παραλία. Συνειδητοποιώντας ότι ήταν νεκρή, δεν της πρότεινε να βγουν για φαγητό… Ποιος στραγγάλισε τη νεαρή κακομαθημένη σούπερ σταρ του Μπρόντγουεϊ ενώ έκανε ηλιοθεραπεία σ’ ένα απομονωμένο νησί της Μεσογείου; Όλοι οι ύποπτοι έχουν πολύ καλούς λόγους να επιθυμούν τον θάνατό της, έχουν όμως και εξίσου ισχυρά άλλοθι.
