Ya en su infancia, Pablo Picasso mostraba talento por la pintura, y por ello es enviado a la Academia de Artes de Madrid. Allí se convierte en pintor, pero ha de vivir en París en la pobreza. Un día es descubierto por un millonario y empieza a ganar dinero conociendo de esta manera a gente famosa de la década de 1920 como Gertrude Stein, Alice B. Toklas, Appolinaire, Hitler y Churchill.
