La ciudad de Pacífica de los EEUU se dedica a las perforaciones del suelo marino para la extracción de oro. La ciudad está al mando de un Almirante (Stuart Whitman) que tendrá que ir solventando diversos problemas. Mientras un meteorito viene lanzado del espacio directo a la ciudad submarina, el hermano del Almirante con dos cómplices intenta robar el máximo oro posible aprovechando que la ciudad está siendo abandonada.
