In de gelijknamige, inmiddels gestopte, serie werd een groep tieners gevolgd gedurende hun tijd bij de National Academy of Dance. Tara (Xenia Goodwin) was voorbestemd om een van de beste balletdansers te worden van haar generatie, totdat ze een desastreuze blessure kreeg. Deze film pikt het verhaal op achttien maanden na de serie. Tara probeert haar leven weer op te pakken, maar blijft dromen over een professionele balletcarrière. Uiteindelijk wordt het haar teveel en laat ze vriend en familie in Sydney achter om de wereld te bewijzen dat ze het nog steeds in haar heeft om het te maken in de danswereld.
