Birbirinden farklı türlerde iki paralel hikaye içeren film; bir yandan karısını aldatan New York’lu doktor Judah’ın dramatik hikayesini, bir yandan da evliliği mutsuz giden belgeselci Clifford’ın trajikomik hikayesini anlatıyor. Judah metresinden şantaj mektupları alırken, ondan nasıl kurtulabileceğini düşünüyor. Clifford ise yeni tanıştığı Halley’e karşı yoğun duygular beslemeye başlıyor. Woody Allen’ın insan doğasını tüm çıplaklığıyla irdelediği bu filmi, suç ve vicdan kavramlarını da ele alıyor. Yönetmenin Maç Sayısı, Cassandra’nın Rüyası gibi filmlerinin habercisi ve öncüsü olan bu filmin aynı zamanda üç tane Oscar adaylığı mevcut.
